Lipsticks are the makeup item that I’ve only recently started to wear. Up until now, I’ve always played it safe and worn a clear lip balm or occasionally a shiny pinky lip-gloss. But for some reason, I am absolutely obsessed with lipsticks. I have been slowly increasing my lipstick collection and this new lipstick, is my absolute favourite. I have found that by just doing my usual, everyday makeup and wearing a lipstick, it changes the whole look, and makes it look like I have put more effort into my makeup.
I love doing my makeup, creating different looks and trying new products out. I want to start reviewing the items I buy, but I buy a fair amount of makeup, so I don’t want this to become boring, or for me to say the same thing about different products, post after post. So I will be reviewing the products that become my new favourites, like this one, as well as ones that I dislike.
L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Lipstick 214 Violet Saturne 5ml
I only bought this lipstick at the weekend and I immediately knew that I needed to do a product review. This lipstick was £6.99 and I got it from Superdrug. They currently have a deal on which is 3 for 2 across all their makeup so if you want to do a drugstore splurge, or to just top up your makeup collection with a few items, I’d get down there!
This is the first lip product that I have ever bought from L’Oréal and I will definitely be purchasing more. This lipstick is so hydrating that it feels more like wearing a lip balm than a lipstick. Which, as I mentioned, is more in my comfort zone.
The colour is incredibly pigmented and I think it works really well with my skin tone. It’s a plum colour which is perfect as we are now entering Autumn. I love the finish of the lipstick as well, it’s has a shine to it but it’s not glittery at all. I literally apply one coat of the lipstick, across my lips and the colour can immediately be seen.
It also lasts really well (without a lip liner). I applied this lipstick this morning before I left the house at 7:00, and didn’t reapply until after my lunch at 12:30. During this time I ate a cereal bar, had a couple of glasses of water and two cups of coffee without needing to reapply. I genuinely cannot believe how well this lasted. I think that because it’s a soft, creamy texture, that it sinks into the skin which makes it last longer (or that’s what I think) rather than just sitting on top of the lips and coming off the second you drink something. Who else hates it when that happens?
In all honesty, I’d love to get myself some MAC lipsticks, but I really can’t justify the price tag. I’m saving for a mortgage, but aren’t we all? It feels like I’m always going to be saving for a mortgage though! So if anyone knows of any drugstore or high-street dupes for MAC ones, I’d love to get my hands on them. However, for the meantime, this L’Oréal lipstick is definitely filling the void. Now to try some other colours!
