Braces: Sixth Adjustment (Week 41)

Last time I remember writing an update, I remember the time was flying. But for this appointment, it felt like ages between visits. I didn’t miss any appointments but it felt like such a long time.

So in this appointment, we changed both my top and bottom brace wires. Both were thicker than any wire I’ve had before. This means that more pressure can be applied to the teeth.

My orthodontist also attached some hooks to two of my teeth as I got my elastics! Elastics is one of the later stages of having my brace so I am so happy about that! But let me tell you, they are awkward to fit, painful to wear and seriously uncomfortable. So I am focusing on the positives and not thinking about any of the things I just mentioned. The plan with the elastics is to move two of my top teeth (one on the left side and one on the right) into the extraction gaps I have. And then once those move into the gap, we will then move the front four teeth back to shut the final gap.

Progress is going well. In all honesty, I cannot wait to get the brace off. I know the pain and discomfort will be worth it in the end.
