Why I started to workout

So in the past I’ve definitely had a bit of a love hate relationship with exercise. I remember the days of PE from school with mixed emotions. I used to love sports, like Netball, Rounders, Badminton. But I hated running.

Fast forward a good few years (more than I’d like to admit) and I love working out! I’ve been working out 2 or 3 times a week since January. I started off initially with doing circuit workout, then I switched to using my (very old) cross trainer, to now using an exercise bike. There were a few attempts of running (actually outside) which didn’t last! But I started off with just a 15 minute workout, then increased it by 3 minutes, until I’m now up to 25 minutes. I’ve chosen not to increase the time of my workouts any further as I don’t want to encroach on my free time.

I can definitely feel the difference in my overall fitness. I’m not doing the exercise to lose weight, but more for my health. Fun fact: recently I had my blood pressure checked, and the nurse commented that my blood pressure had gone down (it was already in the healthy range before). So clearly the workouts are working!

In all seriousness though, I want to be healthier and fitter. And the endorphin rush after a workout is amazing, and definitely worth it.
